The Grand Avenue Project is a project currently under development in Downtown Los Angeles, along Grand Avenue. On February 14, 2007 both the Los Angeles City Council and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the project, and officials originally hoped to break ground in December 2007. The project has been developed in stages due to the Great Recession. On July 26, 2012, Grand Park opened to the public as the initial phase of the project. .〔http://articles.latimes.com/2012/jul/27/local/la-me-grand-park-20120727〕 A 19-story luxury condo tower is set to open in Fall, 2014.〔http://www.ladowntownnews.com/development/the-development-boom-updates-on-downtown-projects/article_bb7a82f0-9da6-11e3-9de8-0019bb2963f4.html〕 The Broad, located between the Disney Concert Hall and the condo tower, is set to open in 2015.〔http://www.thebroad.org/pressdocs/2014.02.10_Plaza_and_restaurant_press_release.pdf〕 The final phase of the project, on a lot directly east of the Disney Concert Hall, will have two skyscrapers. The park was designed to be pedestrian friendly and connects Bunker Hill to the Civic Center. The park includes tree-shaded sidewalks, fountains, plenty of street lights, benches, and kiosks, to encourage the walking and exploration of the area, which was designed to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy a family-friendly green space in downtown Los Angeles, with musical events and other park activities staged at (Grand Park ). The remaining two high rise towers set to rise across from the Disney Concert Hall are being designed by famed architect Frank Gehry.〔Vincent, Roger (13 February 2014) ("With sale of Two California Plaza, Bunker Hill is poised for comeback" ) ''Los Angeles Times''〕
